Privacy Policy

Tzel is a shade-first walking navigation app. It helps you find walking routes that stay in the shade, and shows live sun, heat and UV conditions. This policy explains what Tzel collects, why, and the choices you have. In short: you can use Tzel without an account, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t run third-party ad tracking.
01 What Tzel collects
Location
With your permission, Tzel uses your device location to show where you are on the map and to compute shadier walking routes from your position. Approximate coordinates are sent to our map and weather providers to fetch nearby buildings, trees and conditions. Location is used for app functionality only - never to track you across apps or websites.
Account (optional)
If you choose Sign in with Apple, we store the email associated with your Apple ID (which may be a private relay address) to create your account and sync your data across devices. Signing in is entirely optional.
Your saved data
Your saved places, walking preferences and route history stay on your device. If you sign in, they are also backed up to your account so they appear on your other devices.
Purchases
If you buy Tzel Pro, purchase and subscription status is processed by Apple and our subscription provider so we can unlock Pro features and restore them. We never see your card details.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, a push token is stored so we can tell you when your area becomes covered or a saved route gets cooler. You can turn this off anytime in iOS Settings.
02 Service providers
Tzel relies on a small set of providers, each handling only what its feature needs:

03 What Tzel does not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data.
- We do not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
- We do not require an account to use the app.
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, or browsing history.
04 Your choices
- Location: grant, limit to “While Using”, or deny in iOS Settings - Tzel still shows conditions without it.
- Account: sign out anytime in Settings; your on-device data stays.
- Delete your data: contact us and we will delete your account and synced data.
- Notifications: toggle per category in Settings, or turn off in iOS Settings.
05 Data retention
On-device data remains until you delete it or remove the app. Account data is kept while your account exists and is deleted on request. Approximate coordinates sent to weather and map providers are used to answer a request and are not tied to your identity by Tzel.
06 Children
Tzel is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
07 Changes
We may update this policy as Tzel evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
